WHo we are.
Roy Vix is the founder of Chasing Lions Ministry. His wife Wendy is a Nurse Practioner lovingly serving the communities of Baldwin County Alabama and using her medical knowledge and experience to help and minister to people all over the world since 2007. Together along with their daughter Amaris, they take advantage of any door God opens enabling them to serve and glorify His name. As a family, they love adventure, the outdoors, sports, fitness, finding ways to help those in need all while keeping God at the center of it all.
HOW IT STARTED.
In 2015, it was heavy on Roys heart to create an outreach event focused on the men of our local community. The event was small, but was a tremendous success. We thought that would be the end of it, but God had bigger plans. Word got out about the small conference and we felt led to sit down to plan an event for the next year with hopes to have an even greater impact on the lives of the men in attendance. We were blown away by the local churches that wanted to be involved and the attendance number nearly TRIPLED. Chasing Lions Ministry was officially born and more mens events followed.
With the success of the men’s conferences, we wanted to find a way to tie our passion for overseas mission work into the Chasing Lions vision. Wendy was very experienced with overseas missions and serving in countries all over the world from the refugee camps in Iraq to Central America long before Chasing lions started. Her love of serving on the foreign mission field was the basis of blending both foreign and local ministry out reach.
chasing lions
In 2 Samuel 23:20, we first hear of a mighty warrior named Benaiah. He chased a lion into a pit and killed it. Its not clear WHY he decided to do this, but he did. He saw an opportunity and seized it! He had made the decision to risk it all and chase the lion. This BOLD decision changed the outcome of his entire life. King David heard about the mighty warrior and sent for him. At that time, he made Benaiah one of his mighty men who were heads of his security force. Benaiah later went on to be the General of the Kings Army. When King David died, Benaiah loyally served King Solomon. All this because one day he chased a lion. We believe that when God provides an opportunity to “chase the lion”, what you decide to do with that opportunity can have a life changing effect.
